| Cost
of printing |
Total cost of Inkjet printer
or Laser Printer and the the cost of ink
consumed. Generally, the price of Inkjet printers is less
than the price of Laserjet printer but in the long run, Inkjet
printers prove a bigger burden to your pocket as the cost
of toner cartridges is very high. |
| Draftmode |
Draftmode is a mode in which the printer prints
text as fast as possible without regard to the print quality.
Microsoft Word and some other programs offer a "Draft
Mode", allowing you to print documents using less toner
or ink than normal. These documents don't look as
clean or as crisp as regular documents, but they are great
for quickly printing out versions of your documents as you
refine them. |
| Economode |
EconoMode is a feature that allows
the printer to use less toner per page. Selecting
this option may extend the life of the print cartridge and
reduce your cost per page. However, it will also reduce print
quality. The printed image is lighter, but it is adequate
for printing drafts or proofs. |

A compound composed of colorants, vehicles
(binders), additives, and carrier substances used to produce
an image, text or design in the printing process. In home
printers and enterprise printer the ink is supplied in cartridges.
|
| Ink
cartridge |
An ink cartridge is a replaceable component
of an ink jet printer that contains the ink (and sometimes
the print-head itself) that is spread on paper during printing.
It contains liquid ink. Each ink cartridge contains
one or more partitioned ink reservoirs; certain manufacturers
also add electronic contacts and a chip that communicates
with the printer. Many people prefer inkjets because the cost
is reasonable. As well, many like the quality of the printed
material, the amount of documents and images that can be printed
before the ink runs out, and the efficiency of inkjets. |
| Ink

to the amount of money invested. |
| Save
ink |

printers & multifunction devices. |
| Save
toner |

|
| Total Cost of Ownership
(TCO) |
A TCO analysis includes total cost
of acquisition and operating costs. The acquistion
cost of a printer is fixed while the operating costs (ink
and toner) may differ due to implementation of a print management
software program. When you go to purchase a new printer depends
on your own personal needs. It comes down to either an ink
let printer or laser printer. Ink jet printers use ink jet
cartridges, and laser printers use toner cartridges. |
| Toner |
Toner is a fine and dry carbon-based powder
mixed with a polymer that is applied to the paper used in
photocopiers and laser printers to form images and the printed
text on the paper. The toner is presented in sealed cartridges.
Toners intended for use in color printers and copiers come
in Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (CMYK). In earlier machines
toner was poured by the user from a bottle into a reservoir
in the machine. Modern machines feed directly from a cartridge.
Empty toner cartridges are normally refilled by the
vendor. Empty cartridges are often refilled by third
party vendors. |
| Toner optimization |
Reduction of the toner cartridge costs
in printing by using a print management software
to control the amount of toner used. A software solution that
drastically reduces toner consumption. |
| Toner
refill |
Replacement toner cartridges for printers.
The cartridges are supplied either original by printer manufacturer,
compatible or re-filled cartridges. The toner supplied is
either manufacturer original or compatible. Replacement toner
is available for DIY cartridge refilling. Quality, long printing
life, speed, and efficiency of laser-imaged applications are
a big reason why people choose toner cartridges. Toner cartridges
are quite large, hold a substantial amount of toner, and can
usually print at least 5,000 pages. The toner cartridge is
more expensive than an in jet cartridge but it has a much
longer printing life. |
| Toner savings |
Reduction of the cost of toner used in printing.
|
| Walgreens ink |
